In the last four years, the worldwide tendency was to offer more and more open access to academic journals, editions and translations via Internet but only for scholarly research. In this respect, I think, that the free circulation of academic materials can bring more added value then damage the rights and pocket of the author of a work. Surely, this makes knowledge progress increase its pace. Competition among researchers will become more of a competency battle then resources-dependent. And certainly, the issue of the authority of a scholar will be diminished.
But one question I cannot answer: "will the mastodons that populate the Romanian academic milieu disappear in the near future?"
